- Do you sketch, watch, talk, delay?
Being from a moving image background I have had it drilled into that before any practical filming can be done I need to have a clear idea of what I want to achieve and for what I want the outcome to be. I start my design process by getting general ideas out and written down.
After I have me basic idea I would develop that until happy with it and I’m at the stage to start designing storyboards. The storyboard process help me to have a clear understanding of my vision and helps to make sure I don’t miss anything out in the production stages.
- How do you develop the original idea?
Often I’ll discuss my ideas with other’s, talk out what outcomes we would like to see, how we would like to reach it etc. I am also aware that idea’s can many times not go to plan in the production stage i.e. things don’t go as expected, weather, people don’t turn up or even time problems. This means that sometimes you have to re shot or just make do with what you have.
- How is the idea tested?
Normaly the idea would be pitched to my tutor and they would give feedback back to me. The feed back would be to make me question my ideas giving me a chance to prove my thinking.
- How often do you look back?
